I’ve been reading a lot about the presidential race the past few days. Clinton seems to be going for home runs in targeting the big, delegate-rich states. She took both New York and California on Super Tuesday and it looks like her strategy is to dominate in Texas and Ohio next month. Obama, on the other hand, is playing small ball: hitting singles and moving the runners over by taking states like North Dakota, Alaska, and Nebraska. He’s also winning some delegates in the big states, which is I think kind of like hitting sac flies. It would behoove the Clinton campaign to try for a couple of base hits here and there; every delegate is crucial in this race and the little states add up.
OK, so that’s my major epiphany of the day.
I like Obama. And I love small ball. I still can’t believe we didn’t bunt for Heilman in the 9th inning of game 7 of the 2006 NLCS.
On edit, 6.30pm ET:
Clinton Campaign Manager Is Out
Wow! Is this like George Steinbrenner letting Joe Torre go?

Or Hillary keeps throwing the deep ball while Obama is grinding it out with a running game. For sure Clinton thought it would be over on Super Tuesday but even before that they should have had Plan B ready in case Obama stayed close. Now it sounds like they are scrambling. I like both of them, but think Obama would be better at bringing the country together. Hell, when you can win Alabama and N. Dakota that is somne broad appeal.
