A Disgrace to my Demographic

All the pundits have been saying that women “of a certain age” are overwhelmingly supporting Hillary Clinton.

Oops. Il mio male. I like Obama.

Maybe this has something to do with refusing to act my age:

And when did “downscale” enter the political vernacular? I noticed it last night during the Mark Shields and David Brooks segment of the PBS NewsHour. I suppose it was derived as the opposite of “upscale” — and is easier to say than “lower economic class.”

Hawaii commented in Super Fat Tuesday:

Yes. “Prick” is exactly the word that comes to mind when Romney is mentioned. I briefly lived under “tolerable” Romney in Massachusetts once, but watching him sell the voters of that state out with his revisionary rhetoric and his sudden “epiphanies” on the subject of “moral values” annoys the hell out of me.

I would have to say that Dan Patrick seems to have an uncanny ability to like difficult guys and have them like him back (I know some women who are like that, but that is a wholly different ballgame).

I felt kind of bad calling Romney that. Not that I don’t think he’s one, but I try to stay away from name calling. It was funny to hear Mike Huckabee call Romney out for whining about the West Virginia caucus on Super Tuesday.

I’m not sure why DP likes Knight so much whereas he seems to hate Belichick. Perhaps it’s because Knight will appear on the show. Both men are great coaches but also complex figures. Belichick’s apparent lack of personality doesn’t bother me nearly as much as his lack of sportsmanship. Everyone loves Muhammad Ali now but back in the day I felt that he was disrespectful of his opponents with the poetical jabs and the way he taunted foes in the ring. That sort of behavior is now the norm. I give Belichick more of a pass than Knight, who seems incapable of controlling his temper (having a bad temper is one thing, going psycho on a regular basis is another), not to mention his famous advice for victims of rape:

“If rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it”

– from Why Bob Knight should bag it, by Eric Boehlert

Those bother me a whole heck of lot more than Belichick being unable and/or unwilling to behave like a gentleman for the post-game handshake. DP has said that he’d be OK if his son wanted to play for Knight. I wonder how DP would feel if his son wanted to play for Belichick.
