The New Dan Patrick Show: Dan channels Stephen A. Smith
I still haven’t caught up with last week’s shows, but did listen to yesterday’s show. It picked up where I left DP last week: Him screaming so much I thought he was doing an impersonation of Stephen A. Smith. Last week he was wailing about the media’s coverage of Sean Taylor’s murder. Yesterday he was carrying on about the BCS. An hour of that was enough; I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the rest of the show.
Thank goodness DP regained his senses — or maybe he’s on medication now — because today’s show brought a return to Fireside Chat Dan. Calm, in control, not loud.
I appreciate Dan’s passion for college football (that’s the reason he gave for going postal on the BCS “system”) and his disappointment with colleagues who were too quick to write a moral to Taylor’s life and death. But geez Louise, DP. Don’t go Stephen A. on us. Having a strong opinion doesn’t mean having to be loud. Leave the ranting to Smith, Colin Cowherd, etc.
I was a bit upset when I heard Brett Favre on today’s show. I’ve liked the Packers ever since the Lombardi era, and given The Dan Patrick Jinx I have a horrible feeling that Favre will get injured in Sunday’s game. Of course, he’s injured now so maybe it won’t make a difference.
(For the record: Chase Daniel wasn’t injured after he was on the show, but his #1-ranked Missouri Tigers lost to Oklahoma, thus costing them the opportunity to play for the national championship. Blame it on DP? You be the judge.)
