nothing to add to Scoop’s thoughts, except my very best wishes for DP.

maybe his kids will get to go to China, too.

the video is great. Roy was my first media hero – though that might have been obvious.

“Roy Rogers Girl???” I never would have guessed!

(I thought you were maybe The Pirate Queen. ARRRR!)

I didn’t really have a media hero growing up. My older sister liked Captain Kangaroo a whole lot. I remember watching “Superman,” although I can’t say that he was my hero. Clark Kent was just too white bread for me. We killed or numbed down a lot of brain cells by watching lots of “Gilligan’s Island.”

The tv-related Wow! Moments that I remember most clearly are seeing The Flinstones and The Wizard of Oz in color for the first time.

I wonder what attracts kids’ attention these days, media-wise. In our day a good show or a catchy personality seemed to just come along. Of course in our day tv was still fairly new and network programmers and producers were flying by the seats of their pants. The entertainment industry does a lot more with with focus groups these days prior to a new show hitting the airwaves. Plus there is a lot more advertising aimed at children, to help focus attention on a show and pump up its popularity.
