Requiem for The Dan Patrick Show

Filed under: En Fuego! — Keith Olbermann Is Evil @ 18:17:44

From Funeral music… Top ten and my picks:

1. Goodbye My Lover – James Blunt
2. Angels – Robbie Williams
3. I’ve Had the Time of My Life – Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley
4. Wind Beneath My Wings – Bette Midler
5. Pie Jesu – Requiem
6. Candle in the Wind – Elton John
7. With or Without You – U2
8. Tears in Heaven – Eric Clapton
9. Every Breath You Take – The Police
10. Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers

I’ve always like Elton, but if “Candle in the Wind” played at my funeral I’d get up out of the coffin and walk out.

Considering the selection of music that DP plays during the show, it’s only right that he have a good funeral song should the show bite the dust. I mean, if Hillary Clinton can have a campaign song, then the DP Show deserves a funeral song.

Right off the bat, you know he is not picking anything by Celine Dion.

Good man, Dan. It’s why we love you.

I could spend all evening putting together a top ten list, but seeing as I spent most of the afternoon watching the Mets lose to Houston and I need to do something productive around the house, I’ll leave you with just this one possibility:

Picture this: The corpse of the DP Show sailing off to Valhalla as Dick Dale’s guitar goes totally en fuego. What a way to go out.

(“Miserlou” would also be a cool campaign song. It blows anything by Celine Dion right out of the water.)

  1. oh my – is everyone on the planet but me in melt-down mode? I suppose 17 innings of baseball will do that. is there anything statistically significant when a game becomes a double-header or comes close? all I’ve had to deal with today is a bridezilla episode over breakfast and the daily dementia minefield with Mom all afternoon. an icecube in the sportsbra has been a great comfort tonight.
I’m partial to odd numbers. symmetry works better visually with a focal point, though ten has precedent with digits, commandments, Dr. Laura books, Letterman lists…
please add Vaughn Williams’ Adagio for Strings near the Piet Jesu. either one will invoke prostrate grief for me.
