Tell me if you’ve heard this one before:

There’s this really incompetent guy whose performance is horrible. But because of possible voting irregularities and his appeal to a certain segment of the public he keeps getting enough votes.

Well, that’s the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this segment on the NBC Nightly News a couple of nights ago: The Sanjaya Phenomenon. (The video has been erratic for me in Firefox but will play in Internet Explorer.)

We don’t watch reality tv here, but after seeing that piece on NBC I finally learned what DP, KO, and the rest of America have been talking about.

I don’t really understand the fascination with reality tv, but I’m sure many reality tv fans wouldn’t understand why I often stayed up very late last month watching archived New York Mets spring training games. We’re talking the 8th and 9th innings when only rookies and minor leaguers were left in the game, playing against rookies and minor leaguers from the other team.

Three games down, 159 to go, and then hopefully a long run in the post-season.

Let’s Go Mets!

FYI: Glavine vs. Smoltz tomorrow. Two future Hall of Famers. Be there. Aloha.

  2. I have to say, this has to be the best and most concise summary of the whole George W. Bush election/re-election phenomenon that I have ever seen.

It covers it all…the incompetency, the shape-shifting, the plant in the audience, the election fraud tactics…You said it all.
